North Shore Groms Are Heading to the Surfing Australia HPC
After putting the call out to our members and junior families through the club’s social media channels, 25 junior surfers have registered to take part in the next stage of the North Shore Boardriders Junior Development Program.
From Friday 11 September to Sunday 13 September, the registered crew will head to the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre at Casuarina, NSW for two full days of coaching, access to the HPC facility, team development, and a great opportunity to build confidence, skills and camaraderie together.

Junior Development Program
The Junior Development Program has already been rolling strongly, with training sessions underway and fantastic participation from the groms.
A huge thanks goes to Matt Clark, who has been doing an outstanding job leading the training and helping guide the crew through the program.
The next stage will see the tag team heats kick off at the July club rounds, giving the juniors a chance to put their training into practice, build team surfing skills, and compete together in a fun club format.
The HPC trip lands just before the final double-points heat, where the Junior Development Program champions will be crowned. It is a great lead-in to the finish of the program and a strong opportunity for the kids to sharpen their skills before the final round.
Fundraising for the Trip
To help make the trip happen, we are aiming to raise $400 per surfer.
Funds raised will go towards the cost of the HPC weekend, including:
Two nights’ accommodation
Two full coaching days
Access to the Surfing Australia HPC facility
Travel, food and other trip-related costs
We will be running two main fundraising activities to support the crew: Number Squares at Club Rounds and a 30-day Surf-a-Thon through the Australian Sports Foundation Website where you can support our crew and get a tax deductible receipt for the 26-27 Tax Year.
Number Squares at Club Rounds
At upcoming club rounds, the kids will be selling 100 Number Squares as part of the fundraising effort.
This is an easy way for members, families and supporters to chip in and help the groms get to the HPC.
Keep an eye out at club rounds, grab a square, and help support the junior crew.
30-Day Surf-a-Thon
Starting on 20 July, our groms will take on a 30-day Surf-a-Thon.
The challenge is simple:
Surf every day for 30 days, share the journey, and ask family, friends and supporters to sponsor them.
Each surfer who participates will have their own fundraising profile through the Australian Sports Foundation, linked to the overall North Shore Boardriders campaign.
Supporters will be able to donate through the main campaign page or directly to individual surfers.
